Course Contents:

  • Categorisation of numerical data, frequency tables, graphing data
  • Main measures of central tendency: the mean, the median, the mode and the percentiles
  • Mean measures of dispersion: deviation from the mean, standard deviation, deviation from the quartile and skewness.
  • Statistical relationship between two variables: simple correlation techniques: Pearson’s Correlation coefficient and Spearman’s rho

Course Objectives: By the end of this course the student will be able to categorise and describe numerical data, apply basic statistical procedures for exploratory data analysis, learn the concept of statistical relationship between two variables, apply basic correlation techniques

Assessment Method: Written exam (two midterms (50%) and one final exam (50%))
