Course Contents: Formation of family and its types, changes in family structure by industralization, intra-family relationships, societal gender, the value of children in different cultures.
Objective of the Course: At the end of the semester the students will be able to

  • Account for the formation of family and its types
  • Assess the theoretical approaches to family research in a comparative way;
  • Comment on the familial structures in Turkish and western societies in a comparative way;
  • Acount for the changes in family as a result of industrialization.

Teaching Method: Lectures with intense student participation, research by students, assignments
Assessment Method: Two mid-term examinations (each 25%) and one final (50 %).
